By accessing or using ProtocolEngine ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
ProtocolEngine provides general health information synthesized from peer-reviewed scientific research. The Service includes evidence-graded supplement and habit information, AI-generated personalized protocols, a research digest, the Evidence Assistant (an AI-powered question-and-answer tool), calendar scheduling tools, and supplement ordering via third-party affiliate links.
All content on ProtocolEngine is for educational and informational purposes only. It is not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Evidence grades reflect the quality of published research, not guaranteed health outcomes. Individual results vary.
ProtocolEngine is not a healthcare provider. The Service does not establish a doctor-patient or practitioner-client relationship. You must consult a qualified healthcare professional before starting, changing, or stopping any supplement, medication, or health protocol. This applies to all content on the Service, including AI-generated protocols, dosage information, and habit recommendations.
Supplements can interact with medications, may not be suitable for all individuals, and may carry risks during pregnancy, breastfeeding, or with certain medical conditions. ProtocolEngine does not screen for contraindications.
ProtocolEngine uses artificial intelligence (Anthropic Claude) to generate personalized protocols, scheduling recommendations, and health information. AI-generated content is based on published research in our database but may contain errors, omissions, or outdated information. AI-generated protocols are not reviewed by a medical professional before being presented to you.
You acknowledge that AI-generated recommendations are informational tools, not prescriptions, and that you use them at your own risk.
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account, and at least 18 years old to subscribe to Premium features or make purchases through the Service. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account.
When you use the quiz or Evidence Assistant, you may provide health-related information (goals, sleep quality, exercise habits, dietary preferences, biological sex, age, health concerns). This data is processed to generate your personalized protocol. By providing this information, you explicitly consent to its processing as described in our Privacy Policy, including under GDPR Article 9(2)(a) for special category health data.
You may also optionally select specific health conditions (e.g. diabetes, cardiovascular disease) to personalize research content shown to you. This is special category health data under GDPR Article 9. Storing this data requires your explicit, separate consent, which is collected through a dedicated consent flow. This data is used only to filter and display relevant research findings. It is not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. You may view, modify, or delete your health condition selections at any time from Settings > Health Data.
You may withdraw consent and delete your data at any time through your account settings.
Premium features are available via monthly ($12/month) or annual ($96/year) subscription, processed by Stripe. Your subscription renews automatically unless you cancel before the renewal date.
Cancellation: You may cancel at any time from your account settings or via the Stripe customer portal. After cancellation, you retain access to Premium features until the end of your current billing period.
EU right of withdrawal: Under the EU Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU), you have a 14-day right of withdrawal from digital service contracts. By subscribing and accessing Premium features immediately, you acknowledge that access begins before the 14-day withdrawal period ends and you waive your right of withdrawal in accordance with Article 16(m) of Directive 2011/83/EU and its national implementations (including BGB 356d in Germany and Code de la Consommation in France).
30-day money-back guarantee: If you are not satisfied with Premium within 30 days of your first charge, contact hello@protocolengine.io for a full refund, no questions asked. See our Refund & Cancellation Policy for full details.
ProtocolEngine may participate in affiliate programs. When we do, purchases through our links may earn us a commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate relationships never influence our evidence grades, which are calculated algorithmically from published research.
ProtocolEngine does not manufacture, sell, or ship any products. All purchases are transactions between you and the third-party retailer. We are not responsible for product quality, shipping, returns, or any adverse effects from products purchased through our links.
### 8.1 Google Calendar (optional, Premium)
If you connect Google Calendar, we create recurring calendar events on your behalf. We access only the calendar events write scope. We do not read, store, or analyze your existing calendar events. You may disconnect Google Calendar at any time from your account settings, which removes all ProtocolEngine-created events.
### 8.2 Wearable devices (optional)
If you connect a supported wearable device (Oura Ring, WHOOP, Withings, and others added over time), you authorize ProtocolEngine to receive biometric data from that provider's API on your behalf and to use that data to generate evidence-graded protocol recommendations.
See the Wearable Integrations section of our Privacy Policy for the full data inventory, retention periods, security controls, and deletion mechanisms.
All content on ProtocolEngine, including text, evidence grades, scoring algorithms, AI-generated protocols, design, and code, is owned by ProtocolEngine or its licensors. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our content without written permission.
Research papers referenced on the Service are the intellectual property of their respective authors and publishers. We cite and link to these works under fair use for informational purposes.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless ProtocolEngine, its operator, and its affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your reliance on information provided by the Service.
For users in the EU: The European Commission provides an online dispute resolution platform at https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. We are not obligated to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board but will do so voluntarily if required by applicable law.
For all other users: Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If negotiation fails, disputes shall be submitted to the courts of Berlin, Germany.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany. For consumers in the EU, mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence also apply.
If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force and effect.
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be communicated via the website or email. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree with the changes, you should stop using the Service and cancel any subscription.
