BHIP intervention offspring had fewer total behavior problems reported by mothers (η²p=0.09) and partners (η²p=0.17) compared with controls.
The BHIP prenatal diet-and-exercise intervention (high-protein energy-controlled diet with cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, low-fat milk, nutritional counseling, and walking program) reduced mother- and partner-reported externalizing behavior problems in 22-month-old offspring relative to usual pregnancy care.
Offspring exposed to the BHIP intervention showed reductions in internalizing behavior problems as reported by mothers (η²p=0.08) and partners (η²p=0.13).
